The Scuba Industries Trade Association aims to represent the Manufacturers, Distributors, Retailers, Training Organisations, Registered Dive Schools, Dive Boat Charter Operators, Journals Travel Organisations and recognised, approved Marine Charities relating to the Scuba Industry.
It is with great sadness that I have to advise you that Mike Todd passed away suddenly this morning in Hospital.
Mike, having spent over fifty years shaping our Diving Industry, in so many different guises, will be long remembered for his "can do" attitude and getting on with the job in hand.
Mike was a Vice President of the BSAC following roles as Chairman, National Diving Officer, Honorary Secretary etc. and was very highly regarded by all those who came in contact with him.
As Chairman of IDEST he presided over a growing body of approved Testing Stations nationally with his immense knowledge of metallurgy and desire to improve standards that he felt passionately about; and respected by all for what he achieved.
All of the external agencies that we have contact with HSE, BSI. UKAS and DfT hold SITA & IDEST in the highest esteem through his efforts to support our Industry and that's the legacy he has left us to maintain.
Our thoughts go out to Mike's wife Jean, daughters Debbie & Vicky and grandchildren.
May he now rest in peace.
